Pathfinders at World Congress on Justice With Children 2025
On June 2 through June 4, 2025, organizations from all over the world working on issues of justice with children will convene in Madrid, Spain for this three dynamic days of interactive workshops, thought-provoking plenaries, and critical discussions at the Fifth World Congress on Justice with Children. The Pathfinders team will be hosting and supporting a series of events as part of our Justice for Children workstream under the Justice for All program.
All plenary sessions will be livestreamed with translations available in English, Spanish, French, and Arabic. All times are listed in Central European Time (CET).
Day 1: Monday, June 2

Day 2: Tuesday, June 3

Regional Plenary: Ibero-America
This high-level plenary will share experiences and knowledge from representatives of the Iberoamerican region to: 1) Lay the groundwork for the 2025-2030 Global Justice With Children Strategy; 2) Build capacity to achieve the 2030 Agenda for children; 3) Build alliances and commit to a common agenda that will help ensure that justice for children is achieved in the IberoAmerican region, as well as their role and contribution to the global momentum. This last point will be highlighted with the mention of the Ibero-American Alliance on Access to Justice's (IBA) latest report, "Child-Centered Approach to Justice: Ibero-American Insights for a Regional Agenda 2025,” as well as with the progress on the drafting of the Regional Convention on Access to Justice.

Regional Plenary: Africa
During the Regional Plenary: Africa, Themba Mahleka (Senior Program Officer, Justice for All) will be moderating the discussion from 2:00–3:30 p.m. (CET). The theme is "The Future of Justice with Children in the 2025–2030 Agenda: Africa."

Iberoamerican Perspectives On Justice: Building A Child-Centered Regional Agenda
During the workshop, Laura Ospina (Senior Program Officer Justice for All) will be moderating a roundtable expert dialogue with IBA members which will provide insights on progress, commitments and innovations, and a general framework on the state of access to justice for children and adolescents in Ibero-America. The session will include the official launch of the IBA's "Child-Centered Approach to Justice: Ibero-American Insights for a Regional Agenda 2025" report.

Ending Violence Against Children in Detention This working paper draws on recent research about children’s experiences of violence in European Union detention facilities. It highlights significant challenges related to gaps in data collection and inconsistent legal frameworks across the EU - which violate children’s rights, harm their well-being, and hinder effective policy responses. The Working Paper also features nine key recommendations to improve data collection on violence against children in detention facilities.
