Doha / New York, November 4, 2025. The Global Alliance Against Inequality welcomes the Doha Political Declaration, adopted at the World Social Summit, as a strong signal of renewed international resolve to address rising inequalities and put social justice at the center of global cooperation.

At a time when inequalities are widening across and within countries, the Declaration’s commitment to “stemming the tide of rising inequalities and ensuring the fair and equitable distribution of income and wealth” marks a crucial shift. It recognizes that growth alone is not enough. It must be inclusive, rights-based, and designed to benefit all segments of society.

By linking social development with reforms in fiscal policy, employment, and governance, the Doha Political Declaration lays the foundation for more just and sustainable economies. The Declaration also calls for expanded social protection, decent work, gender equality, and inclusive digital systems, all key priorities of the members of the Alliance.

The Alliance also welcomes the Declaration’s commitment to ensuring that all people have equitable access to essential goods and services, including education, health care, housing, and digital connectivity. It recognizes that universal access to these public goods is a foundation for social cohesion and sustainable growth.

The Global Alliance Against Inequality is a cross-regional coalition of governments and international partners committed to elevating inequality reduction as a global priority and promoting policies that are equitable, inclusive, and evidence-based. Founding and early supporters include Czechia, Germany, Italy, Norway, Sierra Leone, Oxfam International, and the Pathfinders for Peaceful, Just and Inclusive Societies.

The Joint Declaration adopted during the Hamburg Sustainability Conference in June 2025 sets out the Alliance’s mission to pursue collective solutions, strengthen data and evidence, and reject divisive rhetoric while promoting dialogue, inclusion, and fairness.
