Annual Seminar 2026: The Value of Investing in Child-Centred Justice

In a context where punitive responses towards children are re-emerging across Europe and budgets are increasingly constrained, this seminar makes the case for child-centred justice as both a preventative and reparative strategy.

Building on the 2025 Child Friendly Justice European Network (CFJ-EN) Annual Seminar, which highlighted the importance of bridging child justice and child protection systems, the 2026 Seminar takes a broader view, considering the full ecosystem of systems, services, and professionals required to secure children’s rights, well-being, and justice needs.

In a context where punitive responses towards children are re-emerging across Europe and budgets are increasingly constrained, this seminar makes the case for child-centred justice as both a preventative and reparative strategy. When properly resourced, it can prevent crises, reduce justice involvement, and ensure timely, appropriate remedies when children seek justice.
